Kanakambaram - December bloom

Crossandra is a genus of plants in the family Acanthaceae,
comprising 52 species that occur in Africa, Madagascar, Arabia and the Indian subcontinent.
Some species, especially Crossandra infundibuliformis,
are cultivated for their brightly colored flowers, as we all know.
These bloom almost throughout the year
and the most picky is the green Kanakambaram.
It is very difficult to get the green plant cultivated.
They are more common in the southern parts of Tamilnadu.

Dengue cure

There have been a news floating around as the cure for Dengue. It's great if such natural cure could help to ease the sufferings of dengue patients. Since there are no risk with trying out papaya leaves, this is worth a try.

It's believed that one's body would be overheated when one is down with dengue and this helps the patient experience the cooling effect. It is also recommended for sore throat and body heat.

Here is how to:

The raw papaya leaves, 2 leaves cleaned, pounded and squeezed with filter cloth. You will only get one tablespoon per leaf. So two tablespoon per serving once a day. Do not boil or cook or rinse with hot water, it will loose its strength. Only the leafy part and no stem or sap. It is very bitter.
